Laura Stark is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and is one of approximately 300 therapists in the United States that is certified in Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT). Laura obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Texas and completed a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Amberton University in 1997. She became a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in 2007 and works with practicum students earning their masters as well as Licensed Professional Counselor Interns (LPC-I) to educate and mentor new counselors in the field.
Laura has over 22 years of experience as a psychotherapist working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She also has over a decade of clinical experience providing care for adolescents and adults in residential treatment centers and partial/ intensive hospitalization programs addressing clients with mental health and substance abuse treatment. Laura spent five years as a special education teacher and coordinator of a behavioral unit for emotionally challenged junior high age students. She has a special interest in mood disorders, anxiety and panic disorders, OCD, adjustments to life changes, stages of life issues, communication issues, divorce recovery, LGBTQ, and Tourette Syndrome and Tic Disorders. She is one of only a handful of clinicians in the Houston-area certified to provide Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), a non-drug intervention for Tic Disorders.
